Queensland Business Support Grants – Applications Now Open
Applications for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants are now open.
Applications for these grants will remain open for three months, so there is sufficient time to get your application ready and apply.
Guidelines on how to apply for the grants are now available at: www.business.qld.gov.au/supportgrant
The 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants will provide grants of $5,000 (or more in some cases) to employing small and medium businesses, and large businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors, across Queensland that have been impacted by the recent SEQ or Cairns lockdowns.
Importantly, all eligible businesses who apply for a grant during the 3-month application period will receive a grant.
Businesses must have experienced at least a 30% reduction in turnover during the lockdown period to be eligible (as well as meeting other eligibility criteria).
Small and medium businesses are defined as businesses that have a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum and have an annual payroll in Queensland of up to $10 million.
Businesses or not for profit organisations do not have to be located in one of the lockdown areas to be eligible.
More information on businesses who do not have employees or are considered Sole Traders is outlined further below.
Getting ready to apply – important information
The online application form for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants will be available via the QRIDA application portal. Holmans can not lodge the application for you. However, we can assist you with the documentation requirements, Accountants Letter or Lockdown Test Period assessment.
As you will be lodging the grant application yourself, creating a QRIDA profile is the first step in the application process. Once you have created your profile and have all the necessary documentation ready, log into your QRIDA portal account to complete your application, upload all necessary documentation, and submit your application.
Step by step instructions on how to create a QRIDA portal profile are available at: www.business.qld.gov.au/supportgrant and https://applyonline.qrida.qld.gov.au/auth/register
It is possible to complete the application without the input of an accountant, but care must be taken in the collation and submission of the documentation to ensure your application is processed in a timely manner or not rejected. We recommend you download the full guidelines if you prepare yourself, which are provided at the bottom of the Grants Support page https://www.business.qld.gov.au/starting-business/advice-support/grants/covid19-support-grants (download detailed Guidelines). Of course, Holmans can assist you with the application documentation or Accountants Letter for between $275 to $550 (GST Inclusive) depending on our level of involvement. You will still need to submit the application yourself. Please contact Holmans if you require our assistance.
As noted above, the guidelines, eligibility criteria, template accountant letter and a range of frequently asked questions are now available at: www.business.qld.gov.au/supportgrant
