Accountant contributes to Noosa soccer success story

Holmans Principal Wayne Staal Contributes to Noosa Soccer Success

Holmans Accountants were proud to have Wayne Staal, one of their key accounting team players, contest the recent Sunshine Coast Masters Soccer Tournament title, as part of the over 35s Noosa soccer team.

Wayne is an avid participant in soccer, having played for many years. Wayne tells us… “What he lacks in skill, he makes up for in effort”. He also enjoys applying his knowledge, coaching his son’s team.

Wayne particularly thrives on the spirit of teamwork that soccer requires in order to be successful. He believes this can then be transferred into the work place. “We may may have different ideas within the soccer team as to how to get the ball behind into the net, but we all have the same goal..to win, to be successful. Getting everyone on the same page can produce amazing results”.

The Noosa side took both its semi-final and grand-final matches down to nail-biting penalty shoot-outs.

Noosa Head Coach Kevin A’herne said “We were lucky enough to have the player of the tournament (Goodall) as our keeper and he pulled off a number of crucial saves for us,” “It’s the first time Noosa has won (over 35s) and there’s something a bit romantic about it when a local team wins.” He was impressed with the standard of play, noting many former National Soccer League and ex-state representatives were in attendance.

It was the third time Wayne had participated in the tournament, joining more than 1000 others in a range of fixtures across three days at Buderim Wanderers Football Club.
